I am Here
A Short Animation / Hyper Island Motion Creative

“I’m Here Now” is a short story about the ache of abandonment, and the reunion between our inner child and inner parent—both alive within us at once. When the mother leaves, the child is flooded with fear, feeling lost and alone. She runs, desperate to find her again. But instead of her mother, she meets someone unexpected: a calm, loving presence. It’s her—grown, grounded, and gentle. In that moment, she realises she no longer has to chase connection. She is no longer alone. She has herself.
As part of the Moving Story and Concept to Production course, our task was to create a short animation—my very first one!
It was a challenging project, especially given the tight deadline of just four days. The process included everything from scriptwriting and storyboarding (which evolved quite a bit once I began animating), to creating a color script, recording a voiceover, and adding sound effects. I explored frame-by-frame animation in Photoshop and composited the final piece in After Effects.
