It wasn't me
A little run cycle sparked by mischief

Running Girl Animation
“It wasn’t me!”
A looping animation exploring the parallels between my children and my inner child. What began with my kids doing something mischievous became a reflection of my own wish to escape responsibility. In the end, I wasn’t sure who was running, them or me.
I began with a quick hand-drawn doodle and brought it into Illustrator to explore her shapes and colours. Pinterest helped me find the colour mood I wanted.
After that, I moved everything into After Effects, where the real magic happens. I refined the shapes, tweaked the colours, and brought the character to life. For this run cycle, I used Rubberhose and had so much fun experimenting with the bounce of the hair and the swing of the arms.
Music has a huge impact on any moving visuals, and it’s one of the most fun parts for me, adding sound to bring a character’s mood and storytelling to life.
The track I used is Mind Your Own Circus – Speedy the Spider from Epidemic Sound.
